Day on Cosmology
"Embracing our Place in the Universe"
(Click title for flyer)
08/16/08
How do we understand the human condition? What is our role here? What is our destiny? Today, these fundamental questions are so confusing not because there is a shortage of answers, but because our concept of the human condition itself is shifting so profoundly. We live at an extraordinary moment when our understanding of the world is being challenged and new perceptions of what it means to embrance life are emerging. This study day will explore the transformation that is taking place in our understanding of the world, the opportunites and challenges it presents to the human community, and implications it has for our Christian faith.
Presented by Fr. Joseph Mitchell, a Passionist priest, received his training in theology at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago and earned a graduate degree in Philosophy. Cosmology and Consciousness from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. He currently serves as the director of the Passionist Earth and Spirit Center in Louisville, Kentucky.
Begins at 10:00 a.m. and ends by 3:30 p.m. Noon meal is included in the price.

So often we look at saints like Francis of Assisi from a distance. We look at their experiences;
how they were touched by God, how they responded to God. This kind of looking does nothing to help us discover God working in OUR lives.In this retreat we'll find a better way of looking. We'll explore some of the main experiences of Francis' life, but then discover how God is doing (or trying to do) the same things in OUR lives!
Presented by Fr. Dan Crosby, OFM Cap.

Evening Series on St. Paul Theme I:
"Saint Paul for Our Times"
(Flyer not available at this time)
10/07/08
Many people say that apart from Jesus, no one shaped Christianity more that St. Paul. Yet many find him and his writing very difficult. For example, was he really against women? Was he really legalistic in spite of what he said about the law? The Church has declared this "The Year of St. Paul." In honor of that - and to answer our questions - we are offering a series of three evenings on Paul and his message. We will discover the REAL Paul and how helpful he can be for our own following of Christ in 2008! To make these sessions available to as many as possible, we will not serve a meal.
Presented by Fr. Dan Crosby, OFM Cap.
Begins 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. (No supper)
Offering:$45.00 for all three sessions. Individual sessions $15.00.
